What is Psychotherapy?
It is a process that allows a person to come to a fuller understanding of their own abilities, difficulties, motivations or worries in conjunction with the therapist. This confidential relationship is mutually trusting and can last for weeks, months or years.
Psychotherapy or counselling is no magic cure; rather the underpinning principal is that the capacity for cure lies within each person. Hopefully over time as a client you develop a sense of mastery over situations, feelings, thoughts and behaviour.
My theoretical approach is initially Person Centred. This model was developed in the 1940´s and 50´s by an American counsellor called Carl Rogers. His therapy was based on three `core conditions`, empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard. As your therapist I aim to be non directive, empathic, honest, respectful and non judgmental. Our transparent relationship is the key to the healing process.
If you feel you would like to know more about my therapy please feel free to reach me through my phone line, email or contact form. I would be happy to discuss my availability and costs with you.
